Who Are We?
The Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation, Inc. is the only organization in the region uniquely committed to the well-
being of children with sickle cell disease and their families.
Programs for Children and Families
We build programs with the wellness of the family as our focus. We are the primary program provider for these
families, making support available via the monthly Family Support Program, Education Support Program and
the Swim Program.
It is our belief that the entire family is affected by this chronic illness and our programs are structured to involve the entire family. We invite the
community to participate in our programs to raise awareness and encourage the children to bring a friend or sibling.
Community Awareness
The CSCF, Inc. is a leader in the community and corporate education for sickle cell disease (SCD) and sickle cell trait (SCT). We are committed to
bringing a clear message about the disease to those who are most at risk, access to testing and genetic counseling and what resources are
available for those who have or have a child with SCD.
Our hope is that as we bring accurate information about SCD and SCT into the community, it will lead to a proper understanding of this serious
disease, removing the stigma attached to SCD, foster acceptance and remove barriers for those affected.
For the Nation
As a model for a successful community based organization
committed to serving children with SCD and their families the
Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation is the first of its kind in the
USA.
Our Mission
The mission of the Children’s Sickle Cell Foundation, Inc.
(CSCF) is to provide social, educational and economic
support for children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and their
families. Our commitment to sickle cell disease and sickle
trait outreach, and support for sickle cell disease research are
natural extensions of this mission.
We are committed to bringing quality programs to the children
and families that are affected by sickle cell disease.
The purple heart that gently hangs above our logo, a tribute
to the bravery shown by those remarkable children and their
parents.
